A spectacular sextet

Francis Poulenc rebelled against Wagner. If he was forced to listen to an opera by the late-Romantic German composer, he wanted to wash his ears with Mozart, whom he considered his favourite composer. The Hexagon Ensemble plays Mozart’s Quintet for Wind Instruments and Piano. A composition considered a highlight of Mozart’s oeuvre, but rarely heard due to its unusual instrumentation. The musicians combine this masterpiece with a generous selection of Poulenc’s works for wind instruments, including his spectacular Sextet.
